Deadline for entries is June 22, 2015

[Cohoes, NY – June 2, 2015] Mohawk announces a call for entries for the first Mohawk Award for Social Good Design, developed in conjunction with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers to celebrate the graphic communication industry’s ability to make a difference in the world through design.     

The Mohawk Award for Social Good Design is intended to highlight eco design strategies, allowing the medium to match the message of responsibility. The competition is held in conjunction with the 2015 So Good Design Awards, created by RGD, a Canadian-based non-profit professional association that promotes design industry knowledge, sharing, continuous learning, research, advocacy and mentorship.

In order to qualify for the Mohawk Award for Social Good Design, design projects must be printed on one of the following Mohawk paper grades: Strathmore, Superfine, Options + Navajo, Loop, Carnival and Via.

Entries will be judged for their contributions to sustainability, with consideration given to technique, process, and materials designed to reduce environmental, social or economic costs of print communication.

Competition judges include some of Canada’s leading design professionals:

Tina Mackenzie RGD, Manager, Creative Services, City of Mississauga, Mississauga

Richard Carmichael, VP Creative, Marketing & Communications, Zerofootprint, Toronto

Claude Auchu, Partner, Creative Director and VP of Design, lg2 boutique, Montreal

One winner will receive two free conference passes to the RGD 2015 DesignThinkers Conference in Toronto, November 12 & 13, 2015. Promotional value of prize is approximately $1,200. Travel is not included.
