50/50 bats 1000 … plus 80

The beloved AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers competition had a rough few days last week. It was merged, or perhaps even subsumed, into the AIGA’s broader design competition, 365: Design Effectiveness. A public petition to Save 50/50 quickly garnered 1080 signatures … and AIGA swiftly responded by reinstating 50 Books/50 Covers in its own right.

As lovers of books (even e-books, which AIGA hopes to include in the 2011 competition), we are grateful to AIGA for listening, for rethinking, and for preserving this literary design legacy. [AK]
