Independent filmmaker, actress and writer Miranda July has a way with words, even when she’s writing them on her stove. Her latest demonstration of wordsmithery (a word I made up) is evident in her “I want to kiss this person” poster, which she suggests is “a good thing to have in your home if words fail. Sort of like mistletoe, but less ambitious.”
The posters were designed by July for a two-night event hosted by the Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Ore., and the Portland State University Art and Social Practice program, in celebration of her latest feature film The Future. Posters will be available soon via Nationale. There are about 30 left from a limited-edition print run, and they’re all signed by July. Proceeds from poster sales will fund future initiatives by the PSU Art and Social Practice program at the Hollywood Theatre.
If we could, we would put Miranda July herself underneath the poster. Who would go under yours? [SJ]
