[Cohoes, NY – May 3, 2012] For the fifth consecutive year Mohawk has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency as one of the EPA’s list of Top 50 Green Power Partners, a list of organizations that voluntarily using clean, renewable electricity from resources such as solar, wind, and low-impact hydropower. In addition, Mohawk has been ranked 13th on the EPA list of the nation’s largest users of 100% Green Power Users, along with other companies such as Kohl’s Department Stores, Whole Foods Market, and The World Bank Group.

Mohawk received the EPA’s Green Power Leadership Award in 2005, was named Green Power Partner of the Year in 2007 and again in 2009. Mohawk’s current annual purchase of 109 million kWh of wind RECs (renewable energy certificates) is enough green power to meet 100% of Mohawk’s 2011 electricity use.  Mohawk purchases renewable energy certificates (RECs) from 3Degrees, Sterling Planet, NextEra Energy Resources, and Community Energy.
