The Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF), the printing industry’s largest scholarship program since its inception in 1956, has announced its 2013 Slate of Officers including six new additions to the Board of Directors.

Joe Schember, Mohawk’s Specialty Digital Product Manager, is one of the six new incoming Board Members. Other new members include individuals from Xerox Corporation, Heidelberg USA , and others. Schember is noted to be one of the youngest members of the group and has also previously been a PGSF Scholarship Recipient (while attending Rochester Institute of Technology), making his appointment especially notable, as Larry Kroll, Vice President, Development, PGSF commented. “It feels great to be able to give back to an organization that supported me during my time at RIT. As a former scholarship recipient, joining the board was a way for me to go full circle with the organization,” Schember said.

“As a board member, I will help to shape and strengthen the future for the scholarship program. This will include sharing my experiences about being in the industry and opinions on attracting younger men and women into the dynamic field. With the cost of college on the rise, this program provides financial support to high performing individuals studying careers in our industry. It also can help students begin to network with their future peers in the industry. Being selected as a recipient in school is both an honor and a source of motivation.”

The PGSF Board of Directors is comprised of 20 members, and has approved $380,000 to be awarded for scholarships in the 2013-2014 academic years. Individuals, companies, and associations provide both annual and endowed scholarship funds to PGSF, which administers the scholarship and fellowship programs for the industry.
