Coming Soon: AIGA Centennial Gala

This Friday, the AIGA Centennial Gala celebrates 100 years during their annual celebration in New York City. The AIGA Gala honors the distinguished practitioners, educators and role models whose creativity, intelligence, perception and skill have inspired and shaped the entire design profession.

Planned by co-chairs by David Gibson of Two Twelve and Mark Randall of Worldstudio, and hosted by emcee Michael Bierut of Pentagram, the gala will bring together hundreds of design supporters and enthusiasts to celebrate AIGA’s centennial and to recognize the contributions of these design visionaries.

AIGA is celebrating its centennial by awarding a special class of 24 design leaders with the prestigious AIGA Medal, the highest honor of the design profession. Three of the Medals will be awarded posthumously, to Michael Cronan, Sylvia Harris and Bill Moggridge for their contributions to the profession.

The Gala invitations were printed on Mohawk paper and envelopes. Designers Worldstudio + Matthew Goodrich chose Mohawk Options Navajo Smooth Brilliant White 80 text for the invitation. They liked the ultra smooth finish of Navajo Smooth and wanted something that would fold up nicely as the invitation measures 10” x 21” folded down to 5” x 7” and designed to fit in an A7 envelope. The invitation was printed by American Printing Co.
