Stationery Show Day 1 has come and gone. We were so excited to see all of the great new product, visit with old friends, make some new ones, and see the exciting booth designs exhibitors created this year. We’ve barely made a dent in walking each aisle, but here are a few that stood out during our first day of walking.

East of India – Booth #2621

The display for East of India is a pleasure to look at and even more fun to explore. Stop by to take a look at their paper products and old-fashioned office supplies.

American Greetings – Booth #2650

American Greetings has cards that will travel (maybe literally). Their Just Wink truck features interactive cards and real life characters each day from 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-4:00. Stop by today and you may even get to meet the Sweater Cat.

Mitchel Black – Booth #2458

Mitchell Black’s plexiglass display caught our attention in a big way during our travels. And the artwork displayed within held it.

Lifeguard Press Featuring Kate Spade – Booth #2644

Last but not least, our favorite booth from day one was Lifeguard Press’s display featuring their new partnership with Kate Spade. With gold confetti walls and a brand new line of paper goods, we could stand here all day. Who wants to try their hand at the typewriter?

It’s time for the National Stationery Show 2013

It’s about that time of year again. On Sunday, the National Stationery Show kicks off at the Javits Center in New York City, where we will see paper products to our heart’s delight. We’ll be there in Mohawk’s booth #2866 and will share with you the exciting, new projects that launch at the show. We’ll also take you beyond the show floor and provide inside coverage of some exciting industry events (Paper Party anyone?). Here’s a snapshot of what you can look forward to next week…stay tuned for more!

A Love Story: of Enve & Lope

The story goes like this: Young Enve and Lope meet as friends in class, exchanging doodles and notes of affection. The relationship grows through time and is strengthened by a shared love of poetry, music, design, European travel, and, of course, love notes. The culmination of the story, marriage, of course.

The challenge: deliver a compelling story about beautifully crafted envelopes. Designer Katie Barcelona and illustrator Erik Marinovich have certainly succeded. The newest Mohawk envelope sampler, The Story of Enve & Lope, How the Envelope Came to Be, highlighting eight styles ranging from square, A2, A6, A7, A9, A10 and premium Mohawk envelopes, will be previewed for the first time at the show.

25th Annual LOUIE Award Gala – Celebrating The Artist and The Card
May 19th marks the culmination of the 25th LOUIE Awards competition, originally launched by the Greeting Card Associaton in 1988, with a gala celebration honoring all finalists and winners of this year’s competition. The evening will include cocktails, dinner and the presentation of awards, followed by dessert, music and dancing. Each table will also featured hand crafted paper centerpieces, featuring a variety of Mohawk papers. For more information about the gala and to purchase tickets, visit GCA’s website.

Paper Fashion Show
Students enrolled in the Visual Merchandising program at LIM College in New York City have the opportunity again this year to see their fashion designs realized using paper as the medium for creation. They will be using Mohawk papers to design and create Asian-inspired paper dresses, including traditional kimonos and Tokyo street fashions. Their fashions will be installed at the National Stationery Show 2013 Best New Product Display, located in the Crystal Palace. Take a look at past paper fashions here.

Paper Party 2013
Hosted by Oh So Beautiful Paper, this year’s Paper Party is the must-see event of the week. (Besides to beautiful booths, of course.) Mohawk is thrilled to be a sponsor along with several other fabulous companies. Follow the action live on Twitter with the hashtag #paperparty13.
