If you’re in Chicago this Friday stop by the Public Works Gallery for the opening of a new exhibit: Storm Thorgerson — Computers Have A Lot To Answer For. Thorgerson, one of the founders of the design firm Hipgnosis, is world-known for the 300+ album covers he designed, including Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon, Animals and Wish You Were Here, as well as Led Zeppelin’s Houses of The Holy.
The exhibit, sponsored by the AIGA Chicago, explores 40 years of Thorgerson’s execution of elaborate sets, intricate image composition and complex photo montage, all created without the use of digital technology. Storm Thorgerson — Computers Have A Lot To Answer For opens this Friday, September 7 and runs through November 2. You can RSVP for the opening reception here. [KR]
