No chip off the old block: Michael McGinn on designing the New Mohawk product selector

[Alyson Kuhn] Michael McGinn Design Office has impressive experience designing sampling tools. The materials program for Herman Miller, the sampling system and specifications book for GKD Metal Fabrics, the patented ring binder for Wave Binder — the list of clients and materials goes on. Setting out to design a paper-specifying tool for Mohawk gave McGinn and his team the perfect reason to think about how graphic designers work today.

Tom O’Connor makes an animated video

Tom O’Connor, formally known as Thomas D. O’Connor, Jr., is the Chairman and CEO of Mohawk — which has been owned by his family since its founding 80 years ago. Eight weeks ago, Tom — which is what he likes everyone to call him — tweeted, “2012:

The new Mohawk. Good things coming one after another. We are much more than a paper company.” Today, he is excited to launch the company’s new brand identity. He talks about the transformation of Mohawk on the new website, MohawkConnects.com. See his video on the homepage. He’s very animated.
