[Laura Shore] One of my favorite web pastimes is typing “Strathmore and letterpress” into Google and seeing where it takes me. {You mean to say you don’t do this?} Last week, I stumbled upon Publicide.com in NYC who were showing off some funky business cards printed using a Heidelberg windmill press on Strathmore Ultimate White 130 DTC.
Kevin Bacon’s card was designed by Corianton at Sleep Op, a nice detour. Then, I hopped back to Publicide’s blog, where I discovered a link to The Typographic Desk Reference, recently published by Oak Knoll Books, the well-known publisher of books about books. This elegant little book, with its own elegant little web page, had me with its eloquent little foreword by Ellen Lupton: It is my pleasure to share with you the work of my friend and colleague Theodore Rosendorf, a young man who has devoted himself wholly and without regret to the typographic life. Together we have suppressed our own worldly desires and ambitions in order to allow the written word to sit with comfort and grace upon the printed page.
With beautifully designed pages and over 1,000 type facts, Rosendorf has created a book that is designed to be a quick reference across the entire craft and, according to Ellen, belongs on the shelf of anyone who works in the service of typography. TDR is available through Oak Knoll Books and Amazon.com.

Hey, thanks for the props! Although you’ve typed Kevin instead of Keith!
